Trick or Treat Safety Tips

Walk Instead of Running
Running in the dark in a costume can easily lead to a bad fall. Be sure your kids walk up to each door instead of running. They should also look out for any Halloween decorations that may be tripping hazards as well.
Stay in Groups
There truly is safety in numbers. Trick or treat in groups of 3 or more whenever possible. Everyone can look out for each to make the experience safer.
Make Yourself and Child Visible
Try to incorporate bright colors into your costumes. You can also use reflective tape on costumes, candy bags, strollers and wagons. Consider bringing glow sticks and flashlights too.
Never Go Inside Homes
Even if invited, never enter someone's home while trick or treating. Stay outside and visible at all times.
Have a Fully Charged Cell Phone
Emergencies can happen at anytime or your group can accidentally be split up. Be sure every member who is old enough has a fully charged cell phone with them. Communication can be a lifesaver in certain situations.
