Holiday decor is beautiful and can add so much joy to the holiday season. Both storing and unpacking all your holiday decor from year to year can be a stressful task if it is not done right from the outset. Here are a number of useful holiday decor storage tips for bulbs, ornaments, lights, and wreaths.
Bulb & Ornament Storage
- Purchase clear ornament storage boxes with varied size compartments
- Wrap delicate bulbs in tissue or newspaper
- Coordinate your storage with how you decorate your tree (by style, color combinations, etc.)
- Clearly label the exterior of your storage container so you can easily identify what is inside
Wreath Storage
- Hang your wreaths on a hanger or hanging tool
- Cover them with plastic so they won't collect dust
- If you don't hang your wreath, purchase a wreath storage bag or box
Holiday Lights Storage
- Wrap your lights around an old paper towel roll or piece of cardboard
- Store your wrapped lights in clear storage containers by color
- Store your indoor and outdoor lights separately
- Clearly label the exterior of your storage containers, so you know what lights are inside
Use A Storage Unit
If you have limited storage space in your home or apartment, you may want to consider renting a small storage unit for your holiday decor. Rather than stuffing your attic or putting your expensive decorations in a damp basement, a secure climate-controlled storage unit
may be an ideal solution.
